Welcome to my first website and blog!

This blog will be my short introduction of myself.

I’ve been writing for, I think, 7 years now. In the beginning, I only did it as a distraction. I used to write random short stories. By “short”, I mean 700 words per chapter, and by “random”, I mean fan-fictions, mixed with my own made-up characters and plot (which was nonexistent). The support from my family was great to begin with, but, as time went on, my ego prevented me from improving and trapped me within my bubble. And by the time 2020 arrived, I lost my steam. And I didn’t even blame myself for it. I decided to be on hiatus at the same time when lockdowns became a common thing.

In the early days of my hiatus, I did nothing but spend time in heaven, which was laying in bed and eyes glued to my phone’s screen. Around April, I decided to reuse an app that I had gradually lost interest long time ago called Amino. It’s basically like Reddit and Discord conjoined.

I joined an interesting community and did one thing I didn’t like doing from the get-go, but somehow saw benefits to improve my creative writing: roleplaying. Numerous sites claim “roleplaying” as a crucial ingredient for improving storytelling, so I finally gave it a try. Technically, forced myself to.

It was an absolute embarrassment! My English was all wonky! I was telling not showing. It was bland to read. However, it grew on me and I gradually got the hang of it. Without even noticing, around August 2020, my urge to write returned. Fortunately without my ego. Huzzah!

With that said, I need to say something, and I know it will sound out of the ordinary.

I’d like to thank the pandemic for it.

If it wasn’t for it, I would have already broken the record of the world’s longest procrastination. If it wasn’t for it, I wouldn’t have focused on myself.

When 2021 rolled by, my entire life changed.

I finally decided to read three books of The Hardy Boys, which had been collecting dust on some bookshelf. Why did I read them? Like “roleplaying”, I read that if you want to improve in storytelling, you need to read one. So I did. And never felt any regrets. And it is just now, as I am writing this, I realised that this was a domino effect.

I read more stories alongside writing. Even started reading self-development ones, those left by my father. Alas, they were put back into good use. Gradually, reading and writing became my daily routine and evolved into habits. Yes, it bothers me when I don’t read and write at least one chapter a day (I am reading and writing two per day now). I used to read and write with difficulty, such as getting distracted easily. But now, I’m flying through them.

I even managed to maintain my motivation to this day, which I find amazing. And if I were to travel back in time and tell my younger self about it, I would regret it. Again, my ego at the time was at its peak.

In 2021, I discovered my passion for photography, videography, and cinematography. As of right now, I’m keen on photography, because all three are alike in my perspective. Though, there are times where I practice all three. Thankfully, I’m tech-savvy.

In summary, I see myself as a creative person who loves telling stories and sharing ideas for others to tell and share theirs. Hence, I stepped foot into blogging this year. And what better way to follow this up is by posting my second blog about new year's resolutions.
