SUMMARY

  1. Open an article.

  2. Go to the toolbar and click the four horizontal lines (it looks like a paragraph).

    • You can also enable it automatically by right-clicking it.

    • You can also customize its color, fonts, and sizes.

I have been reading a lot of articles for the past few months and it is insufferable to wait for the webpage to load thanks to advertisements making it slow. I didn’t want to use any third-party extensions to remove the ads because it will only make my browser slower and less efficient.

Thankfully, I found this native neat feature called “reader” that basically strips all the advertisements and other distractions away, making it easier for readers like me and you to focus on the content. Plus, since there aren’t any advertisements loading in the background, this feature doesn’t take a toll on your computer, in fact, it lessens the impact.

Below are the screenshots of before and after toggling "reader":

How to use this feature:

It’s quite simple to be honest.

Step 1: Open an article

Safari URL Toolbar

Step 2. Go to the toolbar and there you will see four horizontal lines on the left side of the URL (the right side that displays "Aa" is where you can customize it).

Step 3. Click on it.

  • You can also enable it automatically specifically for the website just by right-clicking it.

DOWNSIDE

Apparently, this feature cannot be used on all websites. I don’t know why. It amazes me how they figured out a way to work around it.
